Project Fashion is in Full Swing!!!

( Pictured are the Graduating Seniors of Thurgood Marshall Academy and me in Harlem)
For those who don't know what project Fashion is heres what its about!
What is Project Fashion? Project FASHION is a non-profit project started by Rain King designer and CEO of Kissed by Rain. Influenced by her ever changing surroundings, her pieces tell a story. Kissed by Rain is evolving into a household name on fashion planet and also has a charitable outlook on society. Project Fashion came about as an idea to give back to the community, which officially launches for the 2009 high school graduating female seniors. There will be four up and coming designers who will be committing to this non-profit project. Rain King, J.R.Perry, Laque, Anu Belle and Duckie Brown. These five designers understand how costly prom can be for young women graduating from high school. Parents have to worry about prom tickets, limousines, shoes, and of course that one beautiful dress. So as talented designers why not take some of this strain off of parents? The four designers will come together and choose five high schools from the tri-state area and choose five high school seniors based on academics and an essay. Five winners will be chosen and will receive a prom dress. That’s not all! Out of the five lucky students, we decided to sweeten the deal and one of those students will be chosen to receive the ultimate Prom Fantasy. That one lucky winner will receive a dress, a pair of designer shoes, hair and make-up and a limousine! With a simple kiss, it’s all about giving back. When asked why give back to the community, the answer was simple. Our willingness to give back to the community stems from the community giving us rising designers the chance to show our work.

New Designer!! on the Rise!! : JAMPAN

The line JAMPAN by Charise Yearwood was inspired mainly from old school west coast fashion mixed with the modern/retro fashion styles of New York City. The name JAMPAN began as a nickname for Ms. Yearwood because of her JAMaican and PANamanian background. So as her love for fashion grew and she decided to start a line of her own it was essential that the name of the line represented who she was, so she named the line accordingly, JAMPAN. Ms. Yearwood says, "JAMPAN represents who I am but does not express nor does it limit Jamaican or Panamanian fashion. If you happen to see Ms. Yearwood walking down the streets of New York City, you will most likely see her sporting one of her snap-back hats, the premiere article of her line. http://www.myspace.com/jampan Can't Wait to Rock my hat asap!!
