Rumors suggest she is just the “figurehead” of the company, but Kira insists she is behind all of the designs.The company and Kira Plastinina brand were founded by Kira’s father, but he did name her chief designer. Their partnership seems to be working as he handles the commercial side while Kira runs the creative side. Kira manages this while attending the Anglo-American School in Moscow. She eventually would like to continue her studies at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.

Bernie Mac Dies at 50
"Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital," his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement from Los Angeles."
The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease." -SOURCE

Karl Lagerfeld’s New Bag Line!
Karl Lagerfeld has a new bag line launching in spring 2009, and we scored the first line sheets for you to preview before they launch (oh, bless Market Week). The collection took a year to develop, and the Kaiser himself approved each of the 42 designs. And you know what we found? Laptop cases! Which is funny, because last we heard, Karl said he didn't even know how to use a computer: "I don't use a computer; I do research with my brain. And if I want or need to — I get people to do it for me.” For a man who is notorious for being a technophobe (well, he does have that iPod nanny), this seems like quite a jump into unknown territory.
But why should that stop him from making chic cases for us common folk? Of course, the press release doesn't name technology as inspiration, rather the line is "inspired by the designer’s passion for modern architecture and photography, and especially by his spirited lifestyle and iconic personality." But that's close enough! There are quite a few slim totes in the collection, perfect for commuting with a laptop in style (probably made with his assistants in mind). There are also bags with grommets (inspired by the grommets on his glove), bags with leather-covered chain handles (inspired by the chain he wears), and bags with sunglass lenses beneath the handles (inspired by his shades). Buyers are confirming orders this week, but come spring, expect to see these available in high-end department stores for $595 to $3,000. We're especially taken with the slim satchel featuring his handles cut out in the shape of his sunglasses, appropriately named "Idol" (but sadly not pictured). Check out more after the jump.

Fashion Week alert: Sean "Diddy" Combs will not show his spring '09 Sean John collection with a runway show. We repeat: P. Diddy has no runway show planned for Fashion Week. In fact, he has no bells and whistles planned for the debut of his spring line at all, as he's just hosting an editors' presentation this month. Woe are we! A Fashion Week without a Sean John show is like a cream puff with no filling or Project Runway with no Michael Kors! We mean, last season Kevin Federline sat front row and Diddy ran around backstage with reality cameras while blinding everyone in sight with his diamonds and shamelessly changing his pants in front of strangers. He's robbing us the awkward yet immensely enjoyable experience of firsthand Diddyness and backstage Cipriani bellinis. At least we know Kimora will never take Baby Phat away from us.
Girls Night Out + BK Circus = Shootout ???
It all started out in Forte Green Bk @ Red Bamboo with the Ladies who are out there. Melissa from YUME BK, Patrice from Crooklyn Chronicles and The Clutch mag, Kai from 718 Bodega and Rhonesha from Life & Society. Great dinner and great time! with the girls, then it was off to BK Circus.
Boy was it packed outside and inside on that steaming night. Great goodies with new girls and guys line and Very Sexy bag line! Im soo getting that bag. But shyt got crazy outsite with a shoot out and me running for my life in 3 inch heels. A young Man was shot in the leg and thank god no one else was hurt. why can't black folks get together and have a good time.
